Overview

Film about the life of former Prime Minister Willem Drees, commissioned by the Dutch government. In an interview, Drees talks about his life, with the main focus naturally being the period when he was Prime Minister. The interview is supported by visual material that provides a picture of the era and makes Drees's monologue somewhat more vivid. 1948-1958 In one hour and six acts, Drees presents his views on various subjects, covering both his time in office between '48 and '58 and the years surrounding it. For instance, Drees discusses politics during his premiership, but also addresses the crisis of the 1930s, the German invasion on May 10, 1940, and the bombing of Rotterdam.
