Overview

For 25 years, the Tribeca Festival has been known for reuniting the cast and crews of some of the greatest films ever made — classics such as Taxi Driver, Scarface, and Schindler’s List. But at Dropout and Vulture’s “Improvised Reunion for a Movie that Doesn’t Exist,” one of the highlights of Vulture Festival at Tribeca Festival, a gathering was held for one of the greatest films never made. That movie was The Sound of the Squid, as invented on the fly by Dropout stars Brennan Lee Mulligan, Izzy Roland, Zac Oyama, and Lou Wilson, who were in conversation with Blank Check podcast host Griffin Newman. The improvisers played the film’s writer, producer, and stars; the director, we learned, is in prison. This panel was recorded live at the SVA Theater in New York on June 14, 2026 as part of Vulture Festival at Tribeca Festival.
