Overview
In German-occupied Latvia in 1943, two partisans are tasked with blowing up a railway bridge. When one of them is seriously wounded, railway worker Ozols refuses to help him, persuaded by his wife, and the partisan dies. His surviving comrade hides near the embankment, preparing to destroy the bridge, but just before detonating the explosives, he sees Ozols’s little daughter nearby.
